Tutorial series: Installing a SharePoint 2013 Development Environment. Part 1

I needed to setup a new environment with the latest software for SharePoint 2013 development and I decided that I would turn the process into a tutorial series as I go along.

Over the years I have setup many dev environments from scratch so I thought it would be a good time to share the endeavor in a video series that shows in detail the process to get a base SharePoint environment up and running.

The high level steps I am following through the installation can be found in this document https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=5CA0EC8ED0922300!16192&authkey=!AAcF1uVTD4BKgzI&ithint=file%2c.pptx

The software I am using is as follows:

  • VM Ware Workstation 10
  • Windows Server 2012 R2
  • SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition
  • SharePoint Server 2013 SP1
  • Visual Studio 2013

I am running the VM with 12GB of RAM and running my domain controller on the same VM as SharePoint.

The first video in the series goes through the installation of Active Directory services, promoting to a domain controller and setting up DNS.

Hope its useful to someone.
